Library and Information Association of Zambia (LIAZ) was privileged to be part of the Stakeholders’ Engagement and Consultation workshop on Public and Civil Service Training and Certification that was held on 22nd September, 2023 at Ciela Resort in Lusaka. 

The one day consultative meeting was graced by Dr. Oliver M. Kalabo, Deputy Secretary to Cabinet, Administration. 

Amongst other objectives was to engage key stakeholders representing government agencies, regulatory bodies, and relevant organizations in the development and implementation of training programmes and modules.

Two members represented LIAZ; Mrs Velenasi Munsanje and Mr. Robson Maamba. The consultative workshop was timely as one of the outcomes saw the addition of Library and Data Management component be added to the proposed list of training programmes to be considered for public service workers.

Following the Government’s decision for the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) to resume mandatory public and civil service training and certification, and in the pursuit of effective governance and public service excellence, it is essential to equip government officials at every stage of their careers with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to meet the demands of their roles.
