LIAZ participates in the IFLA Regional workshop for Sub-Saharan Africa

The Library and Information Association of Zambia (LIAZ) is participating in the workshop on building a stronger and more sustainable library field hosted by the Kenya National Library Service with support from IFLA from 16th to 18th October 2023, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The workshop is providing an opportunity to work towards sustainable development of the regional library field in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is closely linked to the implementation of IFLA's Strategy and plans for the future.

The workshop aims to look broadly at drivers of sustainability and in particular at how partnerships, support for emerging leaders, planning for impact and advocacy contribute. Library Associations have been identified as key in moving forward the library Agenda in each country.

Therefore, the training supports national library associations in identifying and highlighting strategies that will equip them to help their countries achieve development by prioritising what is relevant to successfully lobby and obtain support.
